My Caddie Has a Golf GPS

You might have an experienced caddie who has copiously noted yardage on your favorite course, but my caddie has accurate yardage by way of satellites. And mine doesn't question what club I've chosen. My new favorite caddie is my golf GPS. And it has cut strokes from my game and increased my confidence in club selection.

There are a lot of GPS models designed for golf, but let's separate the pros from the amateurs. A really good golf device will provide you with a fantastic color overview map of each hole. If you're willing to spend a little more, some even offer a video flyover of each hole.

When approaching a green, your GPS can provide you with the size and shape of the green and give you the accurate distance to the pin. A quick check of your golf GPS and you'll know that it's 90 yards to the pin and that there's a bunker lying in between.

One of the drawbacks of most GPS devices is that it can encounter interference from other objects, such as traffic signals and tall buildings. But there is no more perfect environment than a golf course to ensure multiple satellite reception. Therefore, a GPS for golf is extremely reliable and accurate.

A good golf GPS can help you with strategy and course management. Just don't get bogged down with playing endlessly with the features. This can cause you to loose your focus - the one thing we all need on the golf course!
